Idea#45 - Fire Truck Outreach on Hot Summer Days

Work with the New Westminster Fire Department to bring a ladder truck and an engine to various parks in the summer.

"Bringing our fire trucks out to city parks during the summer months would be a fun way for the community to learn about fire safety and meet our New Westminster firefighters."  Jonathan X. Cote

In the City of North Vancouver the fire department visits local parks during the hot days of summer. This is an opportunity for the community to engage with their local fire department, learn about fire safety and tour the trucks— and it’s an opportunity to get wet, with the fire engine spraying water to cool everyone down. Kids and families love it, and so does everyone who gets doused in the heat. This has been a successful program in other communities and would be a great way for residents to connect with our fire department in parks across the city.
